What is World AIDS Day? World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day and the first one was held in 1988. Around 100,000 are currently living with HIV in the UK and globally an estimated 34 million people have HIV. More than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007 have died from the virus, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.
I started stalking celebrities a few years back but all in a good cause. I wanted to do something that would help the Terrence Higgins Trust. http://www.tht.org.uk/ which is the leading and largest HIV and sexual health charity in the UK.
So I emailed and called anyone and everyone I thought would be sympathetic to the cause; Kylie Minogue, Stephen Fry, Joan Baez, Little Britain’s Matt Lucas and David Walliams, Mari Wilson, Horse, Ari Gold, Leon Lopez, Del Shores…anyway, the list is endless.
I am ashamed that it’s taken so long to get this together. I did try to auction everything a few years back, in a nightclub, but that was a disaster (a story for another day).
