TYMM CONNER Reflects on Today’s Events – WE ARE GIVEN HOPE

HEY!! SCOTUS just sent the ruling out. Nationwide, all bans on same sex marriage are lifted, being deemed unconstitutional.

Folks…This is Pride Weekend. Almost fifty years ago, in a little bar in NYC, drag queens and kings and other gay patrons had had enough of random raids. They threw off their wigs and fought back. The next year there was a police escorted march down the street remembering the Stonewall Riots, being the pivotal point, and often referred to as the beginning, of the gay rights movement. Every year, Gay Pride Parades and festivals have grown and gone into most major cities around the world to remind us of those first few who fought back against injustice and allowed us to begin to be able to walk down the street hand in hand.

We have so far to go. But…THIS…This is a HUGE leap forward. This should give each and everyone of us hope for the future. See…It truly does get better. And it will continue getting better as society moves forward.

And find yourselves husbands and wives! It’s legal!! Nationwide!!!
