Battle of the #Somme Centinary 



Our Battle of the Somme Assembly was such a success that we were asked to repeat it today at our other school. It was a devised multi-media piece which mixed archive footage, recorded testimonies, freeze frame images, choral singing and live poetry. I couldn’t be prouder than I am right now. 


Never underestimate anyone; these students engaged with the subject and communicated a message of love, loss and hope with such stillness, subtlety and sincerity.

I’m not saying it’s easy to achieve these results; in fact, quite the opposite. 


It’s challenging but rewarding and rewarding because it’s challenging.
