Useful #Transgender Links because #TransLivesMatter

As with every teaching job I’ve had, there are diverse students with diverse needs. Sometimes it is the parents who require guidance and support and again I have been asked to provide some useful links to support and enlighten on the transgender experience. My most used resources are here below – please feel free to share these and pass on to anyone who may find them of use.

Trans links (which also include further links!)

Becoming ME (Full episode) – I would recommend this as the first steps in understanding a child who identifies as transgender:

This video is Shane, a young teenager who identifies as male

Again, his story and his attitude are relevant to anyone seeking to understand the Trans experience.

This one is a FTM resource that I put together but info is relevant to MTF too:

The blog NEVER BLEND IN | OPTIMIZE your POTENTIAL and LIVE THE LIFE THAT YOU DESIRE covers all sorts of diversity stories and includes testimonies from people of all walks of life. The newest series of articles to be added will be from Gina Denham, a SGT in Essex Police, who has had some challenges being Trans but who has become a role model to others in her determination to live an authentic life.

The Give ’em Hope Campaign is an online diversity initiative which uses all social networks to promote a wider understanding of our diverse world and which has video and written stories as well as pages and groups online where people who feel different or marginalised can connect and find support.
